  • My only regret is that we should have stayed longer. What actually makes this place really special is its people. Warm, Helpful, Genuine, Caring and i can go on and on and on. They took such good care of my parents. The added bonus was that we had the place all to ourselves and we also got upgraded :)

  • This must be one of the most perfect hotels in India! Set amidst rolling tea plantations , high up in the hills and completely isolated. The staff are excellent with nothing too much trouble, and the food was exqusite. Allthe rooms I saw were large, airy and very well appointed. Areal must if you visit this area of India

Stayed May 2015, travelled with family

  • This place was awesome. We stayed at Talapoya Bunglow. This is not one of the very commercial oriented resorts you find. There is a lot of personal attention you get there. The people they have there make you feel just at home. As most other reviews says, we were also short of time there. Wish we could stay longer.

We were with my mom, dad, sister, niece, my wife and 2 kids. My mom had some headache after the travel, and they offered that they have even a Dr. available there if needed. We got the food we of our choices, even they delivered the kids choices. The whole crew was too good. They made the difference, Hope the management takes care of them the way they take care of their guests.

The rooms were spacious, lovely and elegant. The bathrooms were clean, well maintained and spacious. When we reached there it was raining, and we enjoyed the monsoon and fog with the tea and snacks. If you are looking for a place to sit back and relax, along with some trekking, cycling and such activities this is the place!!

We personally like to thank Mr. Ali, Mr.Baiju, Mr.Kittan, and the rest of the crew who made our stay very memorable. Also Mr. Arun, the tea factory manager who walked us through the tea processing and tasting sessions.

  • Excellent location and ambience for a perfect family tour. Host gesture do not deserve any words. We felt we are at home with 5 star facility and homely food with good taste bud stimulation. Swimming pool was well kept and green view from all sides. Bungalow and rooms are europion high ends. Tour to tea factory and guest house was real rewarding. Enjoyed the weather and gesture of staff to many days to remember.

  • Lush green Tea gardens....drinking hot chocolate while watching heavy downpour....lipsmacking local cuisine....fabulous rooms & bathrooms with enough colonial hangover....helpful & courteous staff....sweet & friendly host...an evening spent over tea & snacks listening to the planter's stories while its drizzling outside...sounds perfect to recharge your urban-polluted souls, eh??? Yes! It truly is!

To keep it short, we have plans to revisit repeatedly as long as we have 3 consecutive days holidays. This is hidden treasure for a leisure holiday. We booked at Cherkara. Eventually they upgraded us to Thalapoya. The staffs were very child friendly. My overactive toddler son had free access to everywhere including their kitchen, from where he was coming out munching something or the other.

My review with best chosen words might not be able to do justice to the property. So, I would suggest please go & see for yourself. You'll not regret.

A note: You might not get water in the bathroom when there is no power but not to worry you'll get it as soon as the generator is on. It happened with me when i was halfway through in the shower. You do understand why I mentioned this. :-)
